Ms. Terra Caldwell » Welcome!

Welcome!

Hello! It's so nice to meet you! I'm excited for this upcoming school year and I hope you are too. I love teaching US History, which is what I studied in college. You can find my syllabus on the right sidebar. I would appreciate it if parents could complete this form so I can learn more about you and your children.

We are using a new textbook this year, and I'm very excited about it. The textbook has a toggle that adjusts reading levels, several in-text tools students can use, and a Spanish/English glossary. I've spent the summer working with it to create a curriculum that works with either distance learning or in-classroom learning.

Your student should expect about 5-30 minutes of homework a night, depending on whether they finished their in-class assignments and how much reading has been assigned that night. Please encourage your child to keep up with their reading.

I will be available to answer questions between 8:30 AM and 3:40 PM every weekday, and I may be available to answer questions during lunch and from 8 AM to 8:30 PM at night, every weekday. Students can contact me through email. I also typically reply to parent emails within 24 hours of receipt during the week.

Because of FERPA, a federal education privacy act, only students may join Canvas, though parents can sign up for digest emails of assignments. Parents, please fill out the form linked in the first paragraph if you would like these emails.

On a personal note, I have been teaching for 12 years, first at Edendale (7th and 8th grades) and then at AHS (10th, 11th, and APUSH). In my spare time I enjoy creative writing and dance. I have ADHD and am happy to work to accommodate kids who have it too.
