Ms. Terra Caldwell » Welcome!

Welcome!

Hello! If you are trying to contact me, email me at tcaldwell at slzusd dot org. Please DO NOT call me. I receive approximately 6 to 10 spam calls per period and therefore I don't answer my classroom phone for any external calls. Spam is getting really ridiculous, and I'm sorry that I have to make this decision. If you need to reach your student during school hours, please call Attendance at (510) 317-4021 and they will call my room with your message.

I would appreciate it if parents could complete this form so I can learn more about you and your children.

Much of our work comes from the textbook, which is available online through Canvas. Your student will also be assigned a print copy of the textbook during the second week of school. The online textbook has a toggle that adjusts reading levels, several in-text tools students can use, and a Spanish/English glossary.

Your student should expect about 5-30 minutes of homework a night, depending on whether they finished their in-class assignments and how much reading has been assigned that night. Please encourage your child to keep up with their reading.

I will be available to answer questions between 8:30 AM and 3:40 PM every weekday, and I may be available to answer questions during lunch and from 8 AM to 8:30 PM at night, every weekday. Everyone can contact me through email. I also typically reply to parent emails within 24 hours of receipt during the week. If you would like to speak to me in person, please email me to set up an appointment. I will only be able to meet during the school day, while I am on my prep.

Because of FERPA, a federal education privacy act, only students may join Canvas, though parents can sign up for digest emails of assignments. Parents, please fill out the form linked in the first paragraph if you would like these emails.

On a personal note, I have been teaching for 14 years, first at Edendale (7th and 8th grades) and then at AHS (10th, 11th, and APUSH). In my spare time I enjoy creative writing and dance. I have ADHD and am happy to work to accommodate kids who have it too.
