We're trying out a sort of "message board" system for Google Classroom today, so I hope you will all participate. Question: Was the Progressive Era really progressive? Think about workplace standards, women's rights, Jim Crow, imperialism, unionizing, railroads, immigration, and the economy.
Today: Respond to the prompt with a 1-2 sentence answer today. All work on this assignment should be well-thought-out
Tomorrow: Come back to this and respond to two classmates. If a classmate already has two responses, pick someone else who doesn't to respond to.
Wednesday: Come back and respond to at least one of the people who responded to your post.
Remember--we're just trying this out. If it works well, then this could be a way for the more shy APUSH students to participate in seminars. The pattern that I put above for today, tomorrow, and Wednesday is very similar to how colleges structure their online courses, so if you become familiar with it here, it'll help you in college.

You don't need to do this DBQ until April 22, but if you are bored and want to keep your practice up, you can do it now. I will release another one on Wednesday.
I have included two videos. One is me discussing the question. The other is me going over the documents in this DBQ. You don't have to watch either of them, but you might find them useful.

Due:
I noticed that many of your DBQs on this subject missed the thesis or misinterpreted the documents. Please watch the videos attached here. If you would then like to re-try this DBQ, you can.
Due:
See the Calendar for information about when things should be done. I will email you about your homework.
Due:
Go to APC and take the Unit 3 Progress Check. It's not an exam. It's a way for you to determine how much you know about Period 3. If you are interested in retaking it, contact me.
Due:
Please read over this presentation. Some of it might be hard to understand. If you leave questions here, by email, or in Slack, I can put together a video answering them.
Also, try the Period 3, DBQ 1 assignment in APC. Ms. Soares' website, linked below, also has useful information on Period 3.

This is our last SAQ, and our last review from Period 2. Next week we start Period 3 and DBQs, so make sure you look over the rubric for the DBQs! But please do this one because it will help you with developing your skill at writing with concrete details, and it's good review. We have no idea from which period the DBQ will be taken, so we're still going to work our way through all of the periods.
Due:
Their twitter account is @virtualapush, and you can tweet questions to them as they present if you watch the videos live.
Due:
Please try the link and tell me if it's easier to log in. Shoot for 10 minutes to do this SAQ - time yourselves! - and start recording how long each SAQ takes you. The test covers 7 periods in 45 minutes, so you might end up with approximately 5 minutes to answer a SAQ, so you want to get your time down as much as possible.
We're finding out more about the APUSH exam this Friday. I'll let you know as soon as I know. You guys are doing a great job. I think we'll be ready for the exam.

This is just here because I accidentally made the original one into a "material," not an "assignment." You don't have to do it twice.
Due:
Watch the video. I'm taking notes while I watch the video, and you can follow along in my notes or take your own. Mark "turn in" or "done" (whatever the button is) when you're finished.

This one talks about contextualization, goes over how to answer an SAQ, and then walks you through an SAQ for Period 8 - the Cold War. It's worth watching even though this year's APUSH exam will not cover Period 8 or the Cold War. Please watch it.
Due:
Use B, D, and E from Original Documents, and A, C, and F from the files attached here.

We're doing this assignment in-class on Tuesday. It'll be part of your notebook. Please have it ready to be stamped Thursday when you return.
Due:
Use these primary resources and the Sentence Unpacking document to summarize each resource in 3-5 sentences (no quotes) and find the common thread between them. What thematically unifies these sources? If you were going to organize a seminar, what questions would you ask students that these primary sources could be used to answer? Make certain you can identify the subject, occasion, audience, purpose, source, and tone of each of the resources and add that information underneath your summary for each. The timeline is for your information only--you don't need to summarize it.
