AP Biology Period 2 2020-21-2 Assignments

The document has directions as well as a sample (written by a college student FYI). PLEASE hold your abstract to two short paragraphs and either data tables or graphs.

Watch the rock star AP teacher talk you through enzymes and the first part of cellular respiration! Take notes, answer the questions as you go.


Remember: you can watch YouTube videos with closed captions, and at 1.5 speed if you'd like to!

This is on AP Classroom! It's 5 MCQ and 1 short FRQ, so you only have 15 minutes to take it!!

Remember you also have an AP Classroom assessment!!!!

Test corrections occur during office hours on the following days:

AP classroom will have some maintenance times this week...be sure to check them!! Your questions need to be complete by 11:45 PM on Friday! Be sure to leave 20 minutes to complete the assessment.

DO NOT WORRY about the last piece of FRQ c: Based on the data in Figure 3, predict the change in the glucose metabolic pathway that allows cells to continue to produce ATP even when they are treated with the compound that blocks the electron transport chain.

- Where you get stuck (and write yourself a note when that happens! That will be a good question to ask next week!!)
- The specific pieces of the process including the enzymes and their functions

You don't have to take notes, just look them over and be ready to discuss!

You will be planting two different kinds of seeds. DO NOT MIX YOUR SEEDS!!

Set up each deli container as the directions state. You will have extra soil and extra fertilizer, that's because you are also going to plant the "offspring" of your plants. DO NOT THROW AWAY/LOSE THE EXTRA STUFF!!

Your plants will grow faster in regular light. Put them in a window or somewhere in your house that gets a lot of light. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE THEM UNDER LIGHT 24 HOURS A DAY!

You will have to monitor the water levels on your plants. WE CANNOT RE-START THIS LAB IF YOU KILL YOUR PLANTS!! I will remind you, but you are also going to have to take some ownership.

That means you are going to have to come to campus to pick up materials.

Materials will be at the back door of H-2. For those of you who aren’t sure where that is, it’s across Lorenzo Ave. from the veterinary office/car wash. You will be able to park on Lorenzo and walk right up to my back door.

When?: Tuesday 11/10, Thursday 11/12, Monday 11/17 and Tuesday 11/18
All days from 12:30 – 3:00

If you CANNOT make one of these days, you need to let me know ASAP. We will be setting up your lab at the end of next week.

3. Your introduction, materials/methods, data section should be the same as the rest of your group.
- Your introduction DOES NOT need to include a hypothesis

Complete the gap analysis using your objectives (attached to this assignment). Use this as an opportunity to evaluate your own understanding and provide evidence for yourself and me.

Choose one question or a set of questions to answer with your group. YOU MUST submit your own INDIVIDUAL document, but can work with your group to figure out your responses.

There are four questions on AP Classroom...you will have 24 minutes to complete them once you start the quiz! Please do so BEFORE 10:00 am tomorrow!

We will do the synchronous piece of this together. The asynchronous piece needs to be completed by next class meeting.

You HAVE to be signed up for AP Classroom to access this question. Once you open the question, you will have 8 MINUTES ONLY to answer it. I can't reset it...please keep that in mind!
