Mr. Eckloff's Page
After graduating from Arroyo in 2000, I went on an odyssey before finding my way back home. I began teaching at Arroyo in the spring of 2005 before moving to Washington Manor in 2007 and returning to Arroyo in 2014. Over the course of my career, I have taught in the PE, English, and History departments.
Since 2015, I have taught Philosophy, the Arroyo course that most inspired me to become a teacher. I added AP U.S. Government and Politics in 2019 and AP Psychology in 2022. Since 1995, I have been a part of the Arroyo Track & Field program, first as an athlete, then as a coach, and now as a volunteer helping with meets. I continue to look for ways to give back to our community and help the next generation of Dons grow.
I believe education is at its best when students are encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and engage thoughtfully with the world around them. Curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful discussion are at the heart of both my classroom and my approach to life.
In addition to teaching, I enjoy good conversation. You'll often find me between classes striking up discussions with anyone passing by. I am always wondering why and like to understand how things work. As a result, I am constantly taking things apart, building projects, and talking with colleagues and friends about current events, books, movies, music, and games.
Most importantly, Eckloff is an avid fan of ice cream at all times.

NEED TO MEET WITH ECK?
I'm usually at school early with the elves getting everything ready for the day. If you'd like to meet, the best time to find me is 15 minutes before school starts. If you make an appointment ahead of time, I may be able to meet even earlier.
My regular availability for students is before school and during my conference period. Those are the times I've set aside to answer questions, discuss assignments, provide extra support, or just have a good conversation.
If those times don't work, the best way to reach me is via email at [email protected]. Please email professionally and include enough information so I can help you effectively. I do my best to respond as quickly as possible during school hours.
Like everyone else, I need time to eat lunch, recharge, and take care of my family responsibilities, so those times are generally reserved for those purposes. Thank you for helping me protect that balance.
