11th/12th Grade Psychology/Sociology

This course provides a survey of two interrelated social sciences - psychology and sociology. The first semester of this course provides an overview of the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. Students will be introduced to basic psychological terms and theories. The second semester focuses on the scientific study of human social behavior, with emphasis on social groups, power dynamics, and societal systems.

Within each unit, students will be able to investigate the connections between psychology/sociology and their personal lives. There is a high expectation for attendance and participation. With this being an elective, there is the expectation that you are genuinely interested in the course material and are coming into the class prepared to engage with the material and your classmates. I hope to challenge you in ways that are interesting and enriching, and I expect each of you to take on those challenges with integrity and a commitment to improving your academic skills and content knowledge.
